Note: Picture by the author.

Military users: WW1: RFC (Army) No.1 Kite Balloon Training Station and School

WW2: Army 657 Sqdn (AOP Austers)

Location: Near Rollestone village on the A360, roughly 4nm W of Amesbury

Period of operation: WW1: 1916 to 1919

WW2: 1945 to 1946 only?

Site area: WW1: 180 acres

NOTES: It now appears that the WW1 Balloon Station was probably part of ROLLESTONE CAMP rather than being a nearby but separate site.

The LARKHILL WW1 hangars are now situated within the present day (2015) ROLLESTONE Army facility.
