Rooks Hill
ROOKS HILL: Private airfield
Note: No doubt known by another name locally? Why called an airfield? Very simply because for me an airstrip is just that - singular. If any location has two or more runways I call it an airfield. This term, adopted from the USA, being more popular today than the traditional term, from French - aerodrome. Which was in the very early days, an area within which flying took place.
The area view is from my Google Earth © derived database.
Location: Just S of Bitchet Green, about 3nm SE of Sevenoaks town centre
Period of operation: From around 2020 to -
Runways: 09/27 100 grass 15/33 80 grass
NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for pointing out this location. Too tight for most light aircraft, it can very comfortably be operated from, by for example, a Zenair CH701.
If anybody can kindly offer advice or information, this will be most welcome. Pictures are always much appreciated.
