Roundway Hill

ROUNDWAY HILL: Gliding site    (Aka ROUNDWAY DOWN)

NOTES: Just west of the A361 about 2.5nm NNE of Devizes. Apparently a site used by gliding club ‘expeditions’ since the 1930s at least. In those days the favoured method of launching was by a bungee cable drawn by club members running down the hillside, a method still used for some time after WW2.
