Royal Chase Hotel

ROYAL CHACE HOTEL: Private helipad and balloon launch site

Location: More fun I’m afraid. According to the flight guide I found this in, it is near junction 24 (M25) on the A1105 N of Enfield. It is not really N of Enfield but N of an area actually called Enfield Chase just SE of Potters Bar about 2.5nm NW of Enfield town centre

Landing area: 15m diameter asphalt pad with ‘H’ marked in NW corner of car park

NOTES: It would appear that several big events have been held here. For example in June 2005 it was the venue for a Balloon Meet & Steam Rally. A few years ago I would have  considered balloons and steam as being essentially incompatible, but now I know better  of course. During the great age of steam power in the UK, (mainly in the 19th century), coal gas fuelled balloon ascents took place at nearly every town and city.
