Ruddington

Note: This map only gives an approximate location. Any advice will be most welcome.

RUDDINGTON: Military Landing Ground

Military users: RFC  (Royal Flying Corps)

38 [Home Defence] Sqdn  (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c, later F.E.2b)

Location: SE of Ruddington, just W of the A60, about 4.5nm S of Nottingham city centre

Period of operation: 1916 to 1917

NOTES: Apparently used only as a Night Landing Ground by 38 Sqdn, and - I love this detail, replacing TOLLERTON it seems. Which of course, much later, became the main aerodrome/airport for Nottingham in later years.
