South Molton flying sites

Note: This map only shows the position of South Molton within the UK.

SOUTH MOLTON: Temporary flying site

NOTES: On the 12th July 1911 Capt Cecil Clayton demonstrated his 30hp Blériot at the South Molton Agricultural Show. South Molton is S of the A361 about 10nm ESE of Barnstaple.

SOUTH MOLTON: Private airstrip? (Is this commonly known by another name?)

NOTES: Info from the AAIB Bulletin, Ref: EW/G2004/10/05.

A pretty extensive search for this airstrip appears to reveal nothing definite. The best guess is that is was near Brayford roughly 5nm NNW of South Molton. A search on Google Earth reveals several potential sites, but nothing with an obvious runway. If anybody can kindly offer advice here, this will be most welcome.
