St Pauls cathedral

          St PAULS CATHEDRAL: Temporary helipad

NOTES: A photograph exists of an area cleared just to the east of St Pauls Cathedral with a Bristol 171 Sycamore probably about to land. It appears that this was part of a record attempt to deliver post from central London to central Paris which was highly successful using helicopters and a jet. It appears they achieved this in just 49 mins, and the year was 1948.

I have tried to discover more about the project, but apart from some Pathe News film available of the Sycamore arriving and departing at St Pauls little info appears available. Can anybody kindly fill in the yawning gaps?
