Tarsan Lane

TARSAN LANE:  Microlight airfield

Aerial view 2015
Aerial view 2015
Aerial view 2018
Aerial view 2018

Note:  Both of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

Operated by:  Fly NI Airsports

Location:  S of the M1, W of the M12, about 1.5nm WNW of Craigavon, and roughly 2.5nm NNE of Portadown

Period of operation:  2015 to -

Runways:  This is very interesting. Looking at the Google Earth picture in 2015 it would appear the two main runways were:

16/34   305  grass   (and)    11/29   335   grass

But:  There appears to be clear evidence of a runway:   02/20   285   grass
And possibly(?) a runway:  08/26   295   grass

These are marked with red lines on the Google Earth picture.

PARAMOTOR site?

It would appear that microlight activity probably ceased here in around 2017? And then, (perhaps?), paramotor activities commenced, with initially a 11/29 100 metre runway with a 07/25  70 metre runway added later.

NOTES:  By 2018, looking at the Google Earth picture, it seems difficult to see what the situation was regarding the runways in use. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
