The Izaak Walton Hotel

THE IZAAK WALTON HOTEL: Private helipad

Location: Dovedale, 3nm NNW of Ashbourne

Landing area: Grass landing pad 30x21m

NOTES: I have often heard of ‘Dovedale’ and thought it to be a village or small town as it is often spelt as one word as was the case in the first flight guide I found this hotel listed in. In fact no such village exists in these parts it seems, (except there is another Dovedale  village in the UK 6nm N of Worcester!).

It seems this is actually an area called Dove Dale along and around the River Dove, a river which defines the boundary between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. And indeed, the postal address for this hotel seems to be in Staffordshire. This is not the least unusual, the postal code regions do not respect County boundaries.

Which of course, can make placing a site within a 'set' County, in this 'Guide', quite a task at times.
