The Post House Hotel

THE POST HOUSE HOTEL: Private helipad

Operated by: 2000: Trust House Forte (UK) Ltd

Location: Just N of Coate Water, about 2nm SE of Swindon town centre

Landing area:   180x60m   grass

NOTES: This site is, or was in 2016, the Holiday Inn Swindon. An area of grass, although not marked with an 'H' but meeting the description, is situated to the south of the hotel.

However, also in 2016, I spoke to somebody who had worked in the hotel for eighteen years, and she was not aware of a helicopter ever landing here. I have often suspected that a few sites listed as being available, have not in fact been used. Or at least, not for a long time. Which of course puts me in a bit of a quandry as my normal criteria for entry into this 'Guide' is that some form of flying activity has taken place.

Therefore, I suppose, my criteria needs to be relaxed simply on the grounds that, especially for helicopters, if a site such as this - is listed in a well known pilots flight guide - then it stands to reason that it qualifies. And, to be fair, as in this case, even though an individual with extensive knowledge of the site cannot recall a visit being made - this is certainly not total proof that such an event hasn't taken place.
