TOLLER: Military Airship Moorings    (also known as BRIDPORT)

Military user: RAF (Sub-Station to MULLION)

Location: In the area of Regent’s Coppice and Gray’s Farm it seems. Roughly 1.5nm W of Toller Poecorum, about 1nm SW of Lower Kingcombe, S of the A356 and about 6nm NE of Bridport

Period of operation:  March 1918 to February 1919

NOTES: This does of course raise the inevitable question in my little mind - how often were these airship out-Station moorings actually used? From what I  can gather - regularly used.

What also amazes me, is that a century later, if you look at the first picture; it is still a perfect site for an airship to moor protecting it from the prevailing strong winds from the south-west.
