Tongham

Note: Some time ago I made this comment: "This map only gives a rough location within the UK. If anybody can kindly provide more advice, this will be much appreciated." In January 2018 I was kindly contacted by Terry Clark - see 'Comments' below.  Originally listed as RUNFOLD the name of the strip and map have now been changed.

TONGHAM: Private airstrip     (Aka  RUNFOLD)

Note: This picture (2018) was obtained from Google Earth ©

Operated by: Runfold Flying Group

Location: Just SSE of Tongham and roughly 2nm SE of Aldershot town centre. The airstrip is just north of the A31.

Period of operation: 1970s to -

Runway:   08/26   500   grass

NOTES: In the mid 1970s it seems the Aeronca 15AC Sedan G-AREX was the only aircraft based here.

This strip is usually referred to as Tongham. Look east from your markers and zoom in; you will see 'Tongham Ambulance Station and just north of this, the Hogs Back Brewery. The strip is visible just east of these two places. 'EX did used to live there but in recent years a Stearman and an Aviad Husky have operated out of here. Departure procedure is to call Farnborough LARS 125.250 as you taxy out because the strip is under the downwind leg for Farnborough runway 25.
