West Murkle

WEST MURKLE: Civil regional airport

Location: Just S of the A836 and Claredon, E of Thurso

NOTES: Used in 1933 by Highland Airways on their Inverness to Kirkwall service, but soon abandoned as the Landing Ground was considered unsafe. The reason for this seems unclear.

However, further research indicates that it may well have still been available for use up until WW2. If anybody can kindly offer more information, this advice will be most welcome.
