Wickford

Note: This map only shows the position of Wickford within the UK.

WICKFORD: Temporary ‘joy-ride’ site

Operated by: Mr W G Pudney

Period of operation: 1923 only?

NOTES: Mr Pudney operated a Avro 504K giving ‘joy rides’ or ‘pleasure flights’ from many sites in ESSEX during 1923. WICKFORD was one of these venues but is it now still possible to identify the actual field he used?

WICKFORD: Private airstrip?

NOTES: I’ve found possibly enough evidence to prove that a private airstrip existed or perhaps still exists near WICKFORD?
