WIGTOWN: Temporary aerodrome?
 

NOTES: Venue, 3rd September 1931 for CD Barnard Air Tours.

On the 26th June 1933 Sir Alan Cobham’s No.1 Tour also displayed in/near Wigtown.

Did both these enterprises use exactly the same site? If so did this site later become RAF WIGTOWN?

Location: E to SE of B7005, E of A714, W of Baldoon Sands, 1nm S of Wigtown

Period of operation: Military: 1941 to 1948         Civil: 1980s to 2000s certainly

 

Runways: WW2: 07/25   1600x46   hard          16/34   1262x46   hard

1990/2001: 06/24   446x18   (30m starter extensions at both ends)
