Wolverton

Note: This map only gives a rough position of the site within the UK. Various searches for the location of Wolverton have failed, although it seems it might be an area rather than a village or town, near to Bucknell. Any advice on this will be most welcome.

WOLVERTON: Gliding site

NOTES: Wolverton seems to have disappeared from modern maps but it was, it seems, near to Craven Arms in the mid 1930s, and in 1935 it certainly gets a mention. It would appear from some sources that in this period there only were fourteen gliding clubs in the UK. My research shows there were many more.

However, when comparing our number of gliding clubs to about four hundred in the Deutscher Luftsportverband movement in Germany, we were obviously way behind.
