The last picture (2018) also shows the location of the WW2 ALG (Advanced Landing Ground) just to the south.

Period of operation: 1990s (?) to -

Location: Roughly 1nm or less to the N of the WW2  ALG  (Advanced Landing Ground)

Runway: 03/21   750   grass

NOTES: The P.51 Mustang ‘Beautiful Doll’ is/was based here in the late 20th century and early 21st century.

In an article in Light Aviation (December 2014) Graham Robson tells us that his lovely restored Cessna 120 G-AJJS was acquired by the Robhurst Flying Group, based here, in July 1992 and “provided the three group members with much enjoyment …..for the next 18 years.”

HI, being an avid Flight simulator fan for many years and disappointed with the absence of WW2 airfields on Microsoft's FSX flight simulator, I programme in their original coordinates and attempt landings on the flisim's generic fields, which at least have the correct altitude and level-ness for such attempts. There are navigation beacons already programmed into the simulator for when plotting a genuine instrument course on this simulator. These beacons can be seen as objects on the flisim's generic landscape - if you know where to look. At WW2 Detling and at Brenzett (Appledore) locations, they physically exist as structures today and I have driven to see these installations. Although the flisim objects are not exactly identical to today's real structures, I can land alongside and see them on the flisim, which is at least some connection with the past history at these locations. If any of your followers want the gen on the flisim approaches feel free to email me. Tony Doherty, Kent.
