Location:  Roughly centred between Major's Green, Whitlock's End and Shirley Heath. 6nm SSE of Birmingham city centre

Period of operation: Circa 2009/10 (?) to -

Runway:  12/30   600   grass

NOTES:   As the pictures above show, this is an airstrip of the highest calibre - a credit to those involved. This said, of course it might well be the project of one individual? The hangar alone is worthy of comment, having a power supply from solar panels. And, it seems, capable of housing a handful of smaller types.

When being laid out the runway was initially 480 metres long, but it was soon extended to 600 metres. The first picture, (2007), shows the airstrip being laid out and prepared. In the second picture, (2008), the hangar can be seen under construction.

It has to be said, that in an era when so many established airfields are under threat, it is heartening to find so many people deciding to establish their own bases. Often with several aircraft being based. As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
