Location:  Just W of the Kenwick Road, just NNW to NW of Kenwick village and about 1nm SSE of Louth town centre

Period of operation:  Probably during 1934 only

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for unearthing evidence of this location. I then did a wee bit more delving.

It appears that in May 1934, Mr Fred Wright and Mr Herbert Basil Goldwire Michelmore formed 'W and M Flying Services', acquiring the Avro 504N G-ACRE, (ex E9408), from Air Travel at GATWICK. Paying £340. The company, it seems, traded as Lincolnshire Flying Services, and operated from rented fields spread around the east coast.

Earnings from joy-ride operations could be very lucrative during the holiday season in those days, but, it was a fairly short season, typically from May to September, so the problem of course was how could such a company survive during the rest of year? Very few lacked the means to do so, and folded. This seems a typical example. And indeed, G-ACRE was subsequently registered to Air Publicity and based at PENSHURST in KENT, from 25.04.35 until 13.02.38.

What is of some interest is that it appears a Flying Flea was also based here.
