Wyvenhoe

WYVENHOE: Early experimental flying site

Note:  This picture was obtained from Google Earth ©

Location:  More or less on the A246, just SW of Great Bookham and just SE of Effingham

NOTES: In early 1910 Mr J Humphreys is mentioned as being operating a Humphreys monoplane from a location in/near WYVENHOE. It seems to be assumed it was flying, or perhaps just making 'hops' (?), (as the Wright brothers first did - as proved by the famous photograph), but is anything now known as to where and for how long this operation lasted?
