FOUR AEROPLANES GOT LOST

Whilst attempting to transit from their display ground at ALLOA to the next venue at Stirling, a straight line distance of seven miles, four of Cobham's fleet became  hopelessly lost. A heavy mist, which we'd call fog, pervaded the area around Stirling and three landed on Ballock Farm near Groy, roughly twelve miles to the south. The fourth landed about three miles away from the other three. Incredibly none of the four aeroplanes were damaged in these forced landings.

Venue (7th July 1933) for Alan Cobham’s No.2 Tour of the UK.

ALLOA: Private airstrip      (See GARTMORN FARM)

Notes: The AAIB report EW/G2013/07/01 mentions an airstrip near Alloa with a 470 metre runway which appears to have had the Pioneer 300 Hawk G-OHJE based here.
