Carnfield Hall
CARNFIELD HALL: Possibly a Landing Ground?
The first two pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©. The local area view is from my Google Earth © derived database.
Location: Just S of the B6019, just E of Alfreton town centre
NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for pointing out this location.
As a general rule in compiling this 'Guide', a Google Earth picture since around 2000, showing an aeroplane in a field, is normally a pretty good indication that it is being used for the purposes of committing aviation - even if briefly. In this case, the field it, (I cannot identify the type), is in has a potential E/W landing area of about 500 metres.
But, looking at the aerial detail picture this aircraft looks in a bad way, typically after having had a crash. It seems to listing over and, appears to have no tailplane?
There is surely a story to be told here, but will it ever come to light? As always, if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
