Location: 9nm W of Derby, 1nm E of Foxton village

Period of operation: Military: 1942 to 1945              Civil: 1970s only?

 

Runways: 01/19   1280x46   hard           06/24   1737x46   hard
                12/30   1235x46   hard

 

NOTES: In WW2 hard standings were available for 27 heavy bombers.


SPOTTERS NOTES
In 1977 the Auster J/1N Alpha G-AIGR was based here operated by the Burton & Derby Flying Club, as was the privately owned Schleicher ASK.16 G-BCTI.

I have a picture of church Broughton aerodrome circa 1990 if that's any good.

I have a couple of photos I took of the gliding there (unfortunately no date), they used to bring the gliders across the mainroad from the hangar which was on the othersode of the road.
