Claines

Note: This map only gives the postion of Claines within the UK. If anybody can kindly offer advice regarding the location used, this will be much appreciated.

CLAINES: Temporary aerodrome

Operated by: One of the Alan Cobham Tours  (1929 to 1935)

Location: S of the A449, roughly 2.5nm N of Worcester city centre

NOTES:  This information came from the excellent book Spitfire Voices by Dilip Sarkar in his account from Flight Lieutenant Brian Harris. "My first flight was when I was a child; my father paid ten shillings for me to fly with Sir Alan Cobham's Flying Circus, which had visited Claines on the outskirts of Worcester."

My note: Alan Cobham detested the term 'Flying Circus' and none of his Tours used the term.
