Delabole

Note: This map only gives the position of Delabole village within the UK. If anybody can kindly offer advice regarding a more exact location, this will be most welcome.

DELABOLE: AA landing ground and temporay aerodrome

Operated by: Automobile Association

Location: Presumably alongside the B3314 2nm WNW of Camelford

Period of operation: 1930s only?

NOTES: The Automobile Association were very active in the 1930s at least operating a number of aircraft. And this landing ground, (NGR4243), was also the venue (9th May 1933) for Alan Cobham’s No.2 Tour of the UK.

From the Cornish Guardian 04 May 1933 - the display on 09 May 1933 will take place at Delabole Barton - a farm 600 yards to the east of the northern end of the old Delabole Quarry in position 50 37 36"N 004 42 52"W.
