East Bridgford

Note: This map only gives a rough idea of the location

EAST BRIDGFORD:    Gliding site

Note:  This picture is from my Google Earth © derived database.

Operated by:  The Nottingham Gliding Club

Location:  Mr Ellis's Farm, Kneeton Road, East Bridgford. Roughly 7.5nm ENE of Nottingham city centre

Period of operation:  Unknown, but 1931 certainly

NOTES:   We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for finding this information. Looking at a map it seems pretty obvious that Mr Ellis's farm would have been on Kneeton Road just north east of East Bridgford village. The note in the 1931 directory of gliding sites mentions that gliding takes place on Sundays, weather permitting.

As always, if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
