Hemsby

HEMSBY: Military airstrip

Note: This recent picture was obtained from Google Earth ©

Military user: Used by RAF Lysanders in 1940

Location: In Hemsby which is roughly 6nm NNW of Great Yarmouth

NOTES:  An Army barracks during WW2, on the site of an existing holiday camp known as Hemsby Holiday Centre.  Today known as Hemsby Beach Holiday Park.

I imagine that the Lysanders weren't based here, but called in during Army co-operation exercises. If anybody can kindly offer advice this will be most welcome.
