Most of the details can be found in the listing for YORK FLYING SITES, but it is worth mentioning that, as the newspaper article mentions, that the school children, usually at least forty for each venue, were sponsored by an anonymous donor. We now know this was Lord Wakefield of Castrol Oil fame.
As a general rule Cobham would arrive at around 11.00 and take local dignitaries for a local flight, followed by a gala lunch usually at the town hall, when Cobham would give a speech expounding the benefits of establishing a local aerodrome/regional airport. After lunch Cobham made at least four local flights for the school children, (ten at a time), and would then fly fare paying passengers until dusk. Presumably to help pay the costs of the tour.
