Hoo Farm

HOO FARM: Temporary aerodrome

Operated by: Alan Cobham’s 1932 National Aviation Day UK Display tour
Note:  Possibly also the  1933 No.1 Tour, 1934 Tour and 1935 No.1 Tour?

Location: In/near Kidderminster

Period of operation: 27th April 1932,
Note: Subject to confirmation, probably the 10th May 1933, 20th June 1934 and 18th September 1935

NOTES: I’m taking a chance that the 1933 and 1934 Tours also used HOO FARM because this doesn’t appear to be confirmed. Sometimes the joy-riding and “Flying Circus” operators couldn’t or didn’t use the same site year after year for various reasons.

For example; perhaps the farmer demanded a higher fee when seeing the success of the previous years event, sometimes the farmer converted the field to crops, ploughing up the field in the winter possibly not envisaging them to return. Indeed sometimes, just before arriving when the advance party turned up, they found the farmer had ploughed the field even when they had confirmed the return visit!
