Kingswinford

Note: This map only gives my guesstimate of where it might have been - given that it was also known as DUDLEY. If anybody can kindly offer a more exact location, this advice will be much appreciated.

KINGSWINFORD: Military Landing Ground     (Also known as DUDLEY)

Military user: RFC  (Royal Flying Corps)

38 {Home Defence] Sqdn  (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c & later F.E.2b types)

Location: A tad tricky I suspect, and just a guess really, but apparently N of the A4101 and Pensnett, S of the B4176 and about 2nm WSW of Dudley town centre. If true it begs the question, “Why on earth was this airfield named after Kingswinford?”

Period of operation:  It appears operational from October 1916 to June 1917

NOTES: Situated in STAFFORDSHIRE when operational.
