As so often I have the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust web-site to thank for pin-pointing this location. And was pleased to find that my estimate from many years ago, was not far out.
Military user: RAF Airship sub-station for non-rigid airships based at HOWDEN
Location: S of the A614, roughly 7nm SW of Bridlington
Period of operation: 1918 to 1919

This comment was written on: 2015-12-26 19:11:26When I worked as a stonemason working on headstones in lowthorpe church yard in the 1960's. I used to sit on a concrete mooring block and eat my sandwiches , this block is now in Elvington air museum.
