Note: This map only shows the position of Newport town in South Wales within the UK. If anybody could kindly offer more information regarding these events and the venues used, this advice will be much appreciated.

NEWPORT: This was the 69th venue for Sir Alan Cobham’s 1929 Municipal Aerodrome Campaign. See seperate entry for DYFFRYN FARM.
This Tour started in May and ended in October with one hundred and seven venues planned to be visited. Two were in Wales, this and another in Cardiff, plus eight in Scotland. In the end he managed to visit 96 venues, which was still a magnificent achievement.
The aircraft he mainly used was the DH61 'Giant Moth' G-AAEV, named 'Youth of Britain'. The punishing schedule he set himself seems astonishing today. Highly recommended is reading his memoirs in 'A Time To Fly'.
NEWPORT: Temporary aerodrome?
Operated by: Oxfordshire Aviation Co
Location: ?
NOTES: It appears the Oxfordshire Aviation Co were using a venue in or near Newport in 1920 and it was here the Peruvian pilot and ‘wing-walker’ Harold Gomez-Cornejo joined the company having spent the previous two years working for Berkshire Aviation.
Here once again, of anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
