Radcliffe-on-Trent

Note: This map only gives the position of Shelford village within the UK. If anybody can kindly offer advice as to exactly where this short-lived airfield was located, this will be most welcome.

RADCLIFFE-on-TRENT: Military Landing Ground

Military user: RFC  (Royal Flying Corps)

38 [Home Defence] Sqdn   (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c, just possibly Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2b)

Location: Just N of Shelford, 2.5nm NE of Radcliffe-on-Trent, 6nm ENE of Nottingham city centre

Period of operation: 1916 only

NOTES: Apparently used as a Night Landing Ground by 38 Sqdn from April to November. Other sources say it was only used from October to November before being considered unsuitable.
