Location:  Just SE of the A1M and A507 junction, about 2nm NNE of Letchworth Garden City centre

Period of operation:  1990s(?) to -

Runway:  03/21   370   grass

NOTES:  Apparently only used by microlights. But what impressed me was the runway layout, which I don't think I have seen elsewhere, but which makes so much sense. But of course, as so often, the best ideas which suddenly appear so obvious, somehow seems hidden from lesser mortals - like me.

As the pictures show, a much wider section of around 220 metres has been added to the centre of the runway. Especially useful for landings of course, but even take-offs can get a bit tricky, especially in a crosswind, as the lift-off point approaches.
