SPOFFORTH: Crash landing site
 

Location: In/near Spofforth on the A661 about 10nm SE of Harrogate
 

NOTES: In July 1911 Captain Pixton competed in the ‘Round Britain’ race, presumably flying an AVRO type (?), but crash landed in/near Spofforth village just short of the ‘turning point’ at Harrogate, “and was put to bed for about a week.”
