Military user: Range Landing Ground for 1 AAS based at MANBY
 


Location:  Adjacent to the dunes, just NE of Theddlethorpe village

Period of operation:  1935 to 1973


Runway:  15/33     Roughly 900 yards (820 metres)      grass


NOTES:   It appears, in relation to the picture above, which shows a target-towing Fairey Battle, that the gunners trying to hit the drogue had their bullets marked with various colours of chalk. In this way each gunner could be given a score.  It seems the droques were then patched up to be used time and time again.
