Location:  About 2nm SSE of Holyhead town centre

Period of operation:  Probably 1932, possibly 1933?

NOTES:  In the early 1930s Mr S Kenneth Davies, a minor industrialist in South Wales, was a very keen flyer, and had gained his 'A' license at STAG LANE in northwest London in 1932. He was also the founder of the Cardiff Aeroplane Club based at PENGHAM MOOR near Cardiff. And indeed a major figure in founding Cambrian Air Services, which later became Cambrian Airways. (And indeed, much grander positions in aviation later on).

He had purchased the de Havilland DH60G Moth G-ABOA and this was used not only for personal use, but also for commercial use. It is claimed he made the first flight from Cardiff , (PENGHAM MOOR), to North Wales. Where he landed appears not known, but the beach is the most probable site? Landing on beaches was already a well established practice by then.

He had also made a flight to Nice in southern France, landing on the beach it seems, more or less where the later airport was built. It also appears he was the first pilot to clear Customs at PENGHAM MOOR, flying back from France, after that facility had been made available.
