WOLF ROCK LIGHTHOUSE: First helicopter visit

NOTES: In February 1948 a helicopter first appeared in the skies over the Scilly Isles when a Sikorsky S.51 piloted by Alan Bristow, (whose company is now world famous in helicopter spheres of operation), carried provisions to the marooned lighthouse keepers when bad weather had prevented boats from getting near. Did he manage to land or use an underslung cargo perhaps?
